The E coupe was a 350 IIRC

Chalfont is a hole in the wall. Doylestown is where it's at.

Oh, but there’s so many beautiful historical sites - the abandoned bowling alley, the abandoned drive-in restaurant, the vacant church, the empty fire station, the burned-out car wash, etc. etc.

Definitely! Also, the abandoned Lenape Swim Club. Supposedly they are supposed to develop the bowling alley area.

There’s been a couple of rejected proposals for that corner - supposedly, Rite Aid wanted it several years ago, but the borough council rejected their plans because they weren’t in keeping with their “Victorian village” aesthetic. Which, I guess, means that whatever does get built there will have to be a cheap stucco box with a few pieces of fake Victorian gingerbread glued to it.
I think it is still going to be a drug store of some sort, with apartments or condos on part of the site.
Didn’t realize Lenape was closed down, hadn’t been there in years (I do remember being like 3 years old and being held under water in the kiddie pool by some older kids until one of their moms came over and stopped them).
Now that you mention it, I think there’s also some abandoned greenhouses back there, too that can’t be demolished cheaply due to some sort of soil contamination.

Honestly, I couldn’t care less about what style architecture the buildings are. As long as they destroy the eyesores that currently exist! Chalfont isn’t really *that* Victorian. I don’t know how that awful looking apartment building got approved.
Yes, Lenape valley closed down last summer. The owners were having health issues. They sold it to a developer. They are unable to develop it at this time because of those contaminated greenhouses.

I know, I laughed the first time I heard the “Victorian village” phrase, the borough is really committed to it - they think it differentiates themselves from Doylestown.
If you’re talking about the same apartment building I think you are, it was built back in the ‘30s and used to be brick, but was stuccoed over and now has a severe mildew problem.

To be honest, I feel that the main reason chalfont is still a thing is because of 202. Without all the people going from Doylestown to Montgomeryville, it would be almost like a root 66 situation.
I’m referring to this gem:

Yep, that’s it - the Schoolhouse Apartments. They were actually built by the same architect as the borough hall up the street and used to look like a larger version of it. Then, someone covered up the brick, then they stopped maintaining it.

The borough hall is an okay looking building. I would have liked to see what the school house apartments looked like in brick. For not actually living here, you know quite a bit!

True. I’ve spent all my 15 years on the face of the earth here. Overall, I really like Bucks. Most of Montco is good as well, although I have some reservations about Landsdale and the surrounding areas. They say they are “revitalizing” the area, but it will never compare to Doylestown.
